O the ruler of men! (O janamejaya!) Afterwards, vajranAbha ordered the
demons residing in his city that the best of the houses shall be
provided,
hospitality shall be offered, many jewels, wonderful clothes and comfort for
those who entertain the people (actors) shall provided.
Obeying the order of the master, all did as ordered. The actor (bhadra)
who was heard about before, arrived and generated curiosity.
The demons offered the best hospitality to the actor happily and also gave
many jewels for acting.
Then the actor who received boons performed so that the citizens of the city
enjoyed the most.
They presented the great poem rAmAyanaM as a play featuring the birth of
viShNu of immeasurable splendor for slaying the indra of rAkShasa-s
(rAvaNa).
O the one without any sin! (janamejaya! vaishampAyana continued)
dasharatha invited the great sage R^ishyashR^iNga, the son of lomapAda and
also shAntA along with courtesans.
O the one of bharata race! (janamejaya! vaishampAyana continued) The actors
became rAma, lakShmaNa, shatrughna and bharata, RishyashR^iNga as also
shAntA.
The old demons who were alive at that time were astonished, seeing the
equality in form (of the actors) without any deficiency.
The demons were astonished by the statement of the story, the appearance of
the actors and the refined acting by the actors.
