O the best among the victorious! (O janamejaya!) There is a most wonderful
hymn Ahnika, recited by baladeva (balarAma) for protection, on the arrival of
pradyumna in the city of dvAraka after slaying kAlashambara.
If recited in the evening, O the best among kings, (O janamejaya!
vaishampAyana continued), this hymn is capable of purifying souls.
This hymn is recited by baladeva (balarAma) as well as by viShNu. This hymn
is also recited by the sages who desire dharma.
One day, when the son of rukmiNI (pradyumna) was with hali (balarAma)
